Dubai: Two people sustained injuries in Dubai on Sunday after debris from drones intercepted by UAE air defences fell in the courtyards of residential homes. Both have received prompt medical attention, authorities confirmed.

The Government of Dubai Media Office stated on X: “Authorities confirmed that debris from drones intercepted by air defences fell in the courtyards of two homes in Dubai, resulting in two injuries. The injured have received the necessary medical care. Authorities also clarified that the sounds heard across the emirate were the result of successful interception operations.”

Earlier, the UAE Ministry of Defence reported that since the start of the Iranian attack, the Air Force and Air Defence Forces successfully intercepted 137 ballistic missiles and 209 drones targeting the country. Of these, 132 missiles and 195 drones were destroyed, while the remaining debris fell in UAE territories and waters, causing minor collateral damage.

“As a result of the effective interception of the missiles and drones, some debris fell in scattered areas of the country, leading to minor material damage to a number of civilian properties. The Ministry confirmed that the relevant authorities moved immediately with full readiness and capabilities to handle the situation in accordance with the approved procedures in such cases, and the necessary measures were taken to ensure the safety of residents and secure the affected sites,” the Ministry said.

The Ministry condemned the attacks, describing them as a dangerous escalation and a violation of national sovereignty. It emphasised that such acts undermine regional stability and international law, and urged residents to rely on official sources and avoid spreading unverified information.

“The UAE reserves the right to respond to this escalation and take all measures necessary to protect its territories, citizens, and residents, ensuring sovereignty, security, and stability,” the Ministry added. Authorities remain on high alert, reaffirming that the safety of citizens, residents, and visitors is a top priority.
