SpiceJet is all set to re-induct its first ungrounded Boeing 737 MAX aircraft into commercial operations on January 29, 2025. This marks a significant milestone in the airline’s fleet restoration and operational enhancement efforts, as the aircraft was grounded for several months.

SpiceJet has previously partnered with US-based Standard Aero and CFM International for maintenance and restoration of its MAX fleet. SpiceJet, on January 10, had announced that it plans to unground 10 aircraft towards mid-April 2025, including four Boeing 737 MAX planes. This will increase the airline’s fleet to 28 aircraft.

As a part of this, the airline plans to re-induct the first of four B-737 MAX jets in its fleet. SpiceJet plans to utilise its MAX fleet in high-demand markets like Jeddah and Riyadh. The airline also hopes that the induction of these fuel-efficient planes will result in significant cost savings due to the MAX's reduced fuel consumption, lower maintenance requirements, and higher aircraft utilisation, all of which will contribute to further optimising the airline’s operations.

Commenting on the latest announcement, SpiceJet Chairman and MD Ajay Singh said, "The re-induction of our first grounded Boeing 737 MAX aircraft is a moment of immense pride and an important milestone for SpiceJet. It underscores our unwavering commitment to restoring and enhancing our fleet’s operational capacity. As we move forward, we remain focused on scaling new heights, offering exceptional service, and driving sustainable growth for our passengers and stakeholders."
