A helicopter crashed at Mount Ololokwe in Kenya’s Samburu County, killing all six people onboard, officials said.

A helicopter crash at Mount Ololokwe in Kenya’s Samburu County has killed all six people onboard, according to air accident officials who spoke to the BBC.
The helicopter crashed at around 9:13 am local time on Wednesday while operating a scenic flight from the Loisaba wildlife conservancy towards Ewaso Nyiro, a river that runs through several wildlife reserves in the region.
The Aircraft Accident Investigation Department confirmed that there were six fatalities, although authorities have not yet released the identities of those killed. Local media reports said the helicopter was carrying tourists.
The Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) said the aircraft involved was a Eurocopter EC130 B4. Following the crash, the aviation regulator said it was coordinating with relevant agencies and stakeholders at the scene.
Access to the crash site at Mount Ololokwe remained difficult, with the Kenya Red Cross telling the BBC that the area was not yet accessible to rescue teams.
Drones were being used to assess the site and gather information about the crash. Images from the area showed smoke rising from the crash site, where the helicopter came down in the rugged terrain.
Kenya’s Ministry of Roads and Transport, along with the Air Accident Investigation Department, will lead the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Authorities are expected to establish what caused the helicopter to go down and confirm the identities of all six victims.
The crash comes in a region popular for wildlife tourism and scenic flights, making the reported presence of tourists onboard a key focus as authorities work to establish further details.
