The new additions include one Boeing 737 MAX, three Boeing 737s, and one Airbus A340.

In preparation for the busy winter travel season, SpiceJet has expanded its fleet by adding five new aircraft, the airline said.
The new additions include one Boeing 737 MAX, three Boeing 737s, and one Airbus A340. All five aircraft have already started flying, serving important domestic and international routes that have seen a sharp rise in passenger traffic during the festive and holiday period.
With this expansion, SpiceJet has now added a total of ten aircraft this season. The airline said this is part of its plan to rapidly restore capacity and strengthen its route network.
The new aircraft have been taken on damp lease agreements, a short-term arrangement in which the lessor provides the aircraft and crew, while the airline manages maintenance and insurance. SpiceJet has been using this leasing model to meet demand and maintain schedules as it continues its ongoing restructuring process.
According to the airline, it expects to more than double its operational fleet and triple its available seat kilometres (ASKM), a measure of capacity, by the end of November 2025, compared to earlier this year.
Debojo Maharshi, Chief Business Officer of SpiceJet, said that the move was driven by strong market demand. “The response to our new flights has been extremely encouraging,” he said. “We plan to continue strengthening our operations across both domestic and international markets.”
Recently, SpiceJet announced that it will operate 250 daily flights this winter, which is double the number of flights it operated during the summer and much higher than the 150 daily flights last winter. The new schedule, effective from October 26, reflects the airline’s effort to reclaim market share as it rebuilds operations and inducts more leased aircraft in the coming weeks.
