New Delhi: Despite Ola Electric's claim that it has resolved 99.1 percent of the 10,644 complaints filed with the Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) regarding its subpar after-sales service, the Department of Consumer Affairs is taking a close look at the company's responses. They plan to match each consumer complaint with the company’s assertions.

Sources reveal that the CCPA is scrutinising the EV maker’s statements, and after reviewing each individual complaint, the regulator will be able to "determine the correctness of the Ola Electric responses."

Additionally, reports suggest that another electric vehicle manufacturer might receive a notice from the CCPA regarding consumer grievances. The National Consumer Helpline (NCH) is also set to review complaints related to electric vehicles. Ola Electric's stock stood at around Rs 78 per share on Monday, marking a near 50 percent drop from its peak of Rs 157.40.

Earlier this month, the CCPA issued a notice to the company after the NCH received over 10,000 complaints in the past year concerning its poor after-sales support. If the company’s claims fail to meet the regulator’s standards, it could face legal action and potentially lose the subsidies its electric vehicles are entitled to under the PM Electric DRIVE Revolution in Innovative Vehicle Enhancement (PM E-DRIVE) initiative.

Meanwhile, complaints against Ola Electric continue to rise on social media platforms.

“@OlaElectric @bhash, please respond to my email.. I’m sending reminders but no reply on the replaced battery warranty. Content is below. I need to get a minimum 10 years' warranty for the batteries as it’s one of the expensive components in the scooter.. you can provide the same if you trust your product,” shared one frustrated user on Monday.

Another user posted: “Forcefully scooter is delivered and look at the work done by your team and for this, you took 30 days. @jagograhakjago no one is there to question this company. Very much disappointing, 99 percent forcibly delivered and closed the complaint.”

One more user recounted an incident where their Ola Electric scooter broke down at night.

“Dear @OlaElectric @ola_supports, S1 pro has got completely dead even with 27 percent of charging in the middle of night, no power button is working, no restart is working, we are stuck in the middle of the night," they posted on X. IANS
