Pathanamthitta: Triple lockdown has been imposed in Kadapra panchayat in Pathanamthitta district where Delta Plus variant of Coronavirus was confirmed. The district administration decided to implement strict restrictions for one week since Thursday.
The curbs were intensified as per the direction of the central government to make restrictions stricter in places where Delta Plus variant is confirmed. The new variant is highly dangerous. The Centre has issued warning to three states including Kerala where the new variant was detected.
After triple lockdown is enforced, all smaller routes in the panchayat will be closed and only shops selling essentials will remain open. People travelling for emergency purposes only be allowed to travel in the panchayat. Test positivity rate in Kadapra is recorded at 26.5 percent.
When 67 people in the area were subjected to tests after Delta Plus variant was detected, none of them tested positive. The district administration is intensifying resistance activities as well as speeding up vaccination in the area.
