
Malappuram: The district authority has imposed strict curbs in Malappuram on Sunday as part of the triple lockdown which is in place from May 16. Hence, shops selling essential commodities also remain shut in the district on Sunday. Only emergency medical services will be allowed to function on Sunday, informed the district authority.
The district collector who is also the chairman of the District Disaster Management Authority has informed that fresh restrictions are imposed in the district on Sunday in view of the rapid surge in COVID cases.
At present, only Malappuram district is placed under triple lockdown in Kerala. The government imposed triple lockdown in 4 districts including Thiruvanthapuram, Ernakulam, Thrissur and Malappuram from May 16. But as the cases declined, the government lifted the triple lockdown from three districts except Malappuram on Friday.
