Thiruvananthapuram: The state government has withdrawn the triple lockdown enforced in Malappuram district. With this, only the restrictions of normal lockdown will continue in Malappuram from Monday onwards. The government has extended the lockdown across the state till June 9.
The government imposed the triple lockdown in Malappuram, Ernakulam, Thrissur and Thiruvananthapuram in view of the intense Covid transmission. Later, the government lifted triple lockdown in three districts except Malappuram.
Malappuram district authority reported a decrease in the COVID test positivity rate this week. On Friday, the test positivity rate was recorded at 13.3 percent.
Meanwhile, the district collector has not withdrawn the strict restrictions imposed on Sunday in the district. Shops selling essentials will also remain shut on Sunday.
