
Gandhi Nagar (Kottayam): Vava Suresh, who is undergoing treatment at Kottayam Medical College hospital for cobra bite, has regained consciousness and there is some improvement in his health condition. He talked to the doctors and murmured his name Suresh when doctors asked him. The moment he regained consciousness, he first uttered "God!". With this, the medical team was relieved that blood flow to the brain has become normal.
On Thursday afternoon, he was given liquid food. Hospital officials said that his health condition is satisfactory. On Thursday morning, tests showed that his lungs and heart are getting back to normal. Suresh started giving answers to questions posed by doctors. He even uttered his name and other details. This is a sign to show that his health condition is improving. Suresh has been taken out of the ventilator as he can breathe on his own.
He may be moved to ward on Saturday. The health of Vava Suresh, who has been under the care of a special medical team, will be monitored carefully.
As soon as he was bitten by the cobra on Monday, Suresh informed his companions that the snake bite was dangerous. He was put in one of the vehicles and transported. Suresh himself suggested shifting him to another vehicle as there was no time to be wasted. He requested to shift him to a nearby hospital. He was first taken to Bharath hospital. Soon after, his vision became dark and he suffered heart attack.
When he was shifted to the Kottayam medical college hospital, his pulse was below 20 and his body motionless. Duty doctors immediately gave CPR and surgically created a hole in his windpipe to provide an alternative airway for breathing. Within minutes, the heart rate became normal. He was provided with an antidote and ventilator assistance soon.
Minister VN Vasavan spoke to Vava Suresh on phone. He said the services provided by the doctors, hospital and the government are commendable. The Kottayam medical college PRO was flooded by calls from people who wanted to know about the health condition of Suresh. On the day of his admission to hospital, 130 calls were received by the Medical College PRO.
