Kochi: The second edition of the Summit of the Future commenced in Kochi on Wednesday, bringing together leading voices in knowledge, technology and innovation for a four-day gathering aimed at reimagining the path ahead for society. The event was inaugurated by Ernakulam District Collector G Priyanka IAS at the Kinfra International Convention Centre.

Speaking at the launch, Priyanka said the summit represented far more than an intellectual exercise, describing it instead as a crucial intervention at a time of rapid global change. “The summit raises fundamental questions about who designs the future and the values that guide it. Such platforms send a strong message that a better future can be built through boundary-breaking dialogue,” she said.

Jain University Chancellor Dr. Chenraj Roychand, who chaired the opening session, highlighted the need to make education more inclusive, arguing that democratisation of learning is essential for supporting those from economically marginalised communities. He also formally unveiled the Jain Accelerator project, which is intended to serve as a major launchpad for new entrepreneurs.

Dr. Tom Joseph, Director of New Initiatives at Jain University, noted that the Summit of the Future provides an arena where everyday citizens can contribute their perspectives amid an increasingly intricate and fast-moving world.

Infopark CEO Sushant Kurunthil stressed that navigating uncertainty will require collaborative effort. He said the summit could help position Kerala as a leading centre for development shaped around emerging technologies and future-readiness.

Running from 29 January to 1 February, the event will feature more than 200 sessions spanning seven core sectors including education, technology and environmental sustainability. Organisers expect participation from over 400 international experts, with total visitor numbers projected to exceed 200,000.

A drone show – the first of its kind in Kochi – will run throughout the four days and is expected to be a major draw. Other attractions include an Auto Expo, a dedicated robotics and technology pavilion branded as Roboverse, e-sports contests and an extensive festival village. Evening music performances by Jonita Gandhi, Nikita Gandhi and Arivu are also scheduled.

The inaugural ceremony was attended by Future Kerala Mission Chairman Venu Rajamony, Thrikkakara Municipality Chairman Rashid Ullampilly, Kinfra Director Sabu George, Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. J. Letha and several other dignitaries.
