Sasthamkotta (Kollam): Police have tightened the noose around Ajmal of Karunagappally, accused in the Mynagappally hit-and-run case in which Kunjumol (47) of Anurkavu was killed. The accident and Kunjumol's death have drawn widespread media and public attention due to the heinous manner in which Ajmal drove the car over her after she fell from her scooter. The police are determined to gather as much evidence as possible, against the accused, leaving no room for loopholes to ensure he receives maximum punishment.

During the medical examination conducted immediately after the accident, it was found that Ajmal was inebriated. He has been charged with deliberate homicide, while Dr. Sreekutty faces charges of abetment to murder.

Kunjumol was struck forcefully by the overspeeding car driven by Ajmal as she crossed the road on her scooter. Despite shouts and cries of bystanders urging him to stop, Ajmal drove the car over the fallen Kunjumol.

Kunjumol’s husband, Noushad, and her children, Sofia and Alfiya, have urged higher officials to ensure that Ajmal and Dr. Sreekutty face the maximum penalty. On Tuesday, police officials investigating the case visited Kunjumol's house to collect more evidence regarding the incident.

The Sasthamkotta police have taken the car into custody, and a forensic inspection was conducted on Monday. As Ajmal is also accused in several other cases, the police have begun a detailed investigation into the ownership of the car. The Kunnathur RT Office has also initiated steps to cancel Ajmal's driving license. Blood samples from Dr. Sreekutty will be sent for detailed medical examination on Wednesday. Once they receive the results, the police will proceed accordingly.

The police have also started collecting details regarding other cases against Ajmal under the jurisdiction of the Karunagappally police station.
