Sasthamkotta (Kollam): In connection with the death of a housewife in Mynagappally, the accused have been remanded into police custody. Ajmal, first accused from Karunagappally, and Dr. Sreekutty, the second accused from Neyyattinkara, was directed to be taken into custody by the Sasthamkotta Magistrate Court.

Both suspects will remain in custody until Sunday, and their bail application will be reviewed on Monday.

During police questioning, serious findings were made against the accused. The police stated that both Ajmal and Sreekutty are drug users and had consumed MDMA at the time of the incident. The custody application mentioned they were also intoxicated.

The prosecution informed the court that further investigation is needed to determine the source of the MDMA and to assess whether the accused engaged in illegal activities after using the drug.

The hit-and-run incident

The incident took place around 5.30 pm on Thiruvonam day at Aanurkavu in Mynagappally. The speeding car hit two sisters going on a scooter. After that, the car ran over the body of one of them who fell on the road.

Kunjumol (47) was killed in the tragic incident at Panjipullumvila. She died around 10.30 pm while undergoing treatment at the hospital. Her sister Fauzia (30) was also injured in the accident.

Kunjumol first fell on top of the car and then on the road, and then the car ran over her chest. She was taken to the hospital and given emergency treatment, but Kunjumol's life could not be saved. Kunjumol runs a stationery shop near her home with her husband Naushad.

After the incident, he stopped the car at Karunagappally court corner and escaped. Ajmal, who was on the run, was caught by the police from his friend's house within hours. It is reported that their car hit some other vehicles while escaping.
