He was moved to hospital on Saturday after experiencing discomfort while in jail

Thiruvananthapuram: Tantri Kandararu Rajeevaru, who was admitted to hospital after complaining of physical discomfort, has been discharged and shifted back to jail. He was admitted to Thiruvananthapuram General Hospital on Saturday morning after reporting indisposition. Following an improvement in his condition, he was moved back to Poojapura jail on Sunday afternoon.
Rajeevaru was arrested on Friday night in connection with the Sabarimala gold smuggling case. According to the jail superintendent, he informed jail authorities of his physical discomfort on Saturday morning. He has been remanded in judicial custody for 14 days. His arrest is considered a significant development in the ongoing gold smuggling investigation.
The arrest followed questioning at the Kochi Special Investigation Team (SIT) office, led by Crime Branch ADGP H. Venkatesh. Rajeevaru was produced before Kollam Vigilance Court Judge C. S. Mohith at the judge’s residence on Friday evening. After being remanded, he was shifted to Poojapura jail later that night.

Medical tests at the General Hospital indicated a possible cardiac issue, following which he was transferred to the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital for further evaluation. He was admitted to the Cardiac ICU for observation.

Hospital authorities clarified that his ICU admission was precautionary and not due to any medical emergency. Rajeevaru was discharged at around 3 pm on Sunday and subsequently taken back to Poojapura jail.
