Thamarassery: A man who rented biryani pots and urulis from a rental store in Parappanppoyil and then resold them at a scrap shop has been identified. Investigations revealed that a young man residing in a rented quarter near the old bus stand in Thamarassery was behind the fraud.

However, the incident was resolved without registering a case, as the owner of the rental store managed to recover the items believed to be lost, and the scrap shop owner--who landed in trouble after unknowingly purchasing the stolen items--chose not to file a complaint.

Thamarassery Police intervened and ensured that the vessels were returned to the rental store owner on Tuesday itself. In addition to the two biryani pots and two urulis sold at the scrap shop, the owner also recovered a ladle and a spoon rented out by the youth.

The young man involved in the fraud was previously an accused in a POCSO case. Just days before this incident, he attempted a similar scam at another rental store in Thachampoyil, but the owner grew suspicious and refused to hand over the vessels.

It has also come to light that the same individual recently tried to sell parts of a motorbike that had been involved in an accident  a month ago, dismantling it with the help of two friends. Additionally, he attempted to sell a car parked after an accident, falsely claiming ownership while approaching local workshop owners. In all these cases, he was caught in the act, but the absence of formal complaints allowed him to escape legal action.
