Kozhikode: A wild elephant, known locally as the "Mozha elephant," caused alarm in the Perambra region on Onam Day by wandering into residential areas. The Forest Department has issued an alert and is working to drive the elephant back into the forest.
Residents first spotted the elephant on Sunday morning, with sightings reported in Perambra and Pallithazham. Panic ensued when the elephant entered densely populated areas around 11 AM, walking along roads and approaching houses, which intensified the fear among residents.
Forest Minister AK Saseendran informed 'Mathrubhumi News' that necessary instructions have been given to the relevant officials to handle the situation.
As per the latest information, the elephant which moved towards the Peruvannamuzhi forest area, has been successfully guided back into the jungle.
