Raju sustained serious injuries in the elephant attack and was being treated at the Medical College Hospital.

Mananthavady, Kerala: A 65-year-old plantation worker who was undergoing treatment after being attacked by a wild elephant here succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday.
The deceased has been identified as Raju. The attack happened around 10 a.m. near Kattikulam in Thirunelly.
Raju sustained serious injuries in the elephant attack and was being treated at the Medical College Hospital. He passed away around noon while preparations were underway to shift him to Kozhikode Medical College for specialised treatment.
The wild elephant had entered the Vellanchery area early in the morning and spread panic among residents for several hours. As forest officials and local residents attempted to drive the animal back into the forest, Raju reportedly came in its path and was attacked.
The elephant was later chased back into the forest by forest department personnel with the help of local residents.
