Kasaragod: Despite the arrival of the northeast monsoon, Kerala continues to experience above-normal daytime temperatures.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has recorded unusually high temperatures, with Kozhikode reaching 35.6°C over the past two days, a 3°C increase from the usual levels.
Rising temperatures across Kerala
IMD's automatic weather stations (AWSs) have reported temperatures of 35°C across most districts, except Idukki, Wayanad, Alappuzha, Kollam, and Thiruvananthapuram. On Saturday, temperatures in districts excluding Idukki, Wayanad, and Kollam ranged between 35°C and 39°C.
Isolated rainfall expected
While daytime heat persists, isolated rainfall is anticipated in the hilly regions over the coming days. Weather expert Rajeevan Erikkulam explained that the depression currently in the Bay of Bengal is expected to weaken into a low-pressure system. It is projected to move towards the Tamil Nadu-Sri Lanka coast by November 12, potentially activating rainfall once again in Kerala.
