Thiruvananthapuram: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an urgent five-day weather warning across Kerala, putting several districts on high alert for torrential downpours. With a high risk of flash floods and landslides, state authorities have activated emergency protocols and issued a comprehensive safety blueprint for residents.
Orange alert: high risk (115.6 mm to 204.4 mm in 24 hours)
- 06/07/2026: Kannur, Kasaragod
Expect isolated, extremely heavy downpours capable of causing immediate flooding.
Yellow alert: moderate to heavy rain (64.5 mm to 115.5 mm in 24 hours)
- 06/07/2026: Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad
- 07/07/2026: Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, Kasaragod
- 08/07/2026: Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Kozhikode, Kannur, Kasaragod
