There is no room for controversy, my only aim is public service. I am grateful to Kerala for entrusting me with this responsibility, says Kerala’s new State Police Chief Ravada A. Chandrasekhar in an interview to Mathrubhumi’.

Q: Moving from central service to the position of state police chief, how do you feel?

I am very happy. I am grateful to the government. I thank the Chief Minister and everyone who chose me for this position.

Q: There are controversies being raised as you take charge as the Police Chief, for instance, the Koothuparamba firing incident. What is your response?

I understand. I have heard about it too. I do not wish to respond to controversies. But the government has given me an opportunity to serve. I am thankful for that. In return, I will serve the people well. My focus is entirely on fulfilling the duties entrusted to me. I am concentrating only on how to work efficiently and effectively.

Q: What will be your top priority?

My foremost priority is to serve ordinary people. Addressing their problems is my primary duty. Kerala already has a very capable police force. It is a privilege to get the chance to lead such a force. Any measures to further improve the force will be carried out according to the government’s decisions.

Q: How will your experience in Central Service benefit Kerala?

A: I have gained invaluable experience in Central Service. I believe I can put that wealth of experience to good use in Kerala.

Q: Do you see yourself as a bridge between the Centre and Kerala?

A: Absolutely. I have good relationships here in central force. I am confident that Kerala will be able to make use of that whenever needed.
