Thiruvananthapuram: Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development Minister Bindhu Krishna has dismissed recent negative reports and rumours surrounding Milma products, assuring consumers that the dairy cooperative follows strict quality-control procedures and conducts multiple tests before its products reach the market.

Krishna said she had personally verified the matter behind the reports and found no basis for the rumours.

“Some recent negative reports about Milma were unfounded. I personally went and verified the matter and found that all these rumours about Milma have no basis,” the minister said.

Her remarks came on Saturday night as Milma's Thiruvananthapuram Regional Cooperative Milk Producers' Union (TRCMPU) launched four new value-added products at an event attended by cine artist Meenakshi Anoop.

Krishna said Milma products are manufactured under stringent quality-control procedures, with multiple tests carried out to ensure consumers receive authentic and healthy products.

She urged people not to believe what she described as adverse propaganda against Milma and called for continued support to strengthen the dairy cooperative and the state's dairy sector.

The minister said dairy farmers were the backbone of Kerala's economy and that Milma had grown over the decades into a household name in the state and one of the country's major dairy cooperative networks.

According to Krishna, Milma has also expanded beyond its traditional milk and curd offerings, developing value-added products using scientific research and responding to changing consumer preferences.

What are the new Milma products?

Among the four new launches is Milma Paneer Pops, a ready-to-cook snack made with Milma paneer, spices and crispy breadcrumbs.

The product is available in Peri-Peri and Chettinad flavours and comes in frozen form. It can be fried in oil or prepared in an air fryer within minutes.

Milma has also introduced two new yoghurt products — Sweetened Yogurt and Blueberry-Flavoured Yogurt.

The products are made from milk and set using beneficial probiotic cultures. The union said they are suitable for both children and adults.

Milma said the new products are intended to combine taste and nutrition as part of consumers' everyday diets.

Milma aims to expand value-added products

Krishna said the objective was to continue developing Milma as one of the country's leading dairy brands while providing high-quality milk and value-added dairy products.

She also sought continued support from stakeholders to strengthen Milma and the state's dairy sector.

The minister recalled that Chief Minister V D Satheesan had set a target on June 1 for the dairy development sector to make the state self-sufficient in milk production, with an output target of one crore litres a day.
