Kochi: In connection with the mega Bharatanatyam event held at Kaloor Stadium during which MLA Uma Thomas fell from stage sustaining severe injuries, Mridanga Vision MD Nigosh Kumar surrendered at the Palarivattom Police Station. Nigosh Kumar, along with the third accused, Oscar Event Management owner P S Janish from Puthoor in Thrissur, was directed by the High Court to appear before the investigating officers on Thursday. Following this, Nigosh Kumar appeared before the police.
Meanwhile, City Police Commissioner Putt Vimaladitya clarified that if necessary, Divya Unni would also be summoned for questioning. However, Divya Unni had already returned to the United States on Wednesday amid indications that she may need to appear for questioning.
The police have filed a case against Mridanga Vision MD Nigosh Kumar, CEO A Shameer, Divya Unni’s friend Poornima and Nigosh Kumar’s wife for the charge of cheating. The organisers' bank accounts have also been frozen.
Previously, a case of attempted murder was filed against five individuals, including Nigosh Kumar and Shameer.
The complaint was lodged by Biji Hilal, the mother of one of the dancers who participated in the event and a resident of Thrikkakkara. Biji's complaint states that she was deceived by the organisers, who promised a Guinness World Record for Kerala and a certificate for participating in the event, and took money from her.
