Kochi: The police have initiated an investigation into the financial fraud related to the dance event held at the Kaloor Stadium during which MLA Uma Thomas fell from stage sustaining severe injuries. A case of criminal breach of trust has been filed against four individuals, including the director of Mridanga Vision and artist Divya Unni's friend, following a complaint from a housewife from Kaloor, Biji.

The case has been registered against the director of Mridanga Vision, Nigosh, his wife, CEO Shameer and actress Divya Unni's friend Poornima. It is also likely that dance teachers who were involved in the financial exploitation will be implicated. The dance teachers are believed to have been intermediaries in the monetary transactions. If more complaints are received, further action will be taken accordingly.

The complaint alleges that the organisers committed financial fraud, both directly and indirectly, in connection with the event. They charged ₹2,000 for participation and ₹1,600 for the costumes. Also, despite the event aiming for a Guinness World Record, although the organisers received the record at the event, the participants in the dance were not given any prizes related to the Guinness World Record, as stated in the complaint.

Meanwhile, Kalyan Silks, who provided the costumes, clarified in a statement that they only became aware of the inflated charges for the costumes later.

The police will also take statements from the sponsors, including Kalyan Silks. Furthermore, information will be sought from BookMyShow.

It is expected that Divya Unni’s statement will be recorded the next day, and actor Sijoy Varghese is also likely to be summoned for questioning.
