The Supreme Court has directed former Tehelka editor Tarun Tejpal to surrender within two weeks, while agreeing to list his appeal against the rape conviction on September 22.
The Supreme Court on Tuesday directed rape convict and former Tehelka editor Tarun Tejpal to surrender within two weeks and submit the surrender certificate before the court.
A bench of Justice Alok Aradhe rejected Tejpal's plea seeking exemption from surrendering until his appeal against the Bombay High Court judgment is listed for hearing before the Supreme Court.
The court, however, agreed to list Tejpal's appeal challenging the Bombay High Court judgment on September 22, provided he submits the surrender certificate by then.
The Bombay High Court had convicted Tejpal in the rape case and sentenced him to 10 years' rigorous imprisonment.
