Kannur: Muslim League leader K M Shaji revealed that he spoke to CPM leader P K Kunjananthan during Kunjananthan's time at the Kannur Central Jail in connection with the murder of RMP leader TP Chandrasekaran.
Speaking to Mathrubhumi, Shaji said that he hadn't fully disclosed the information provided by Kunjananthan. He went on to reiterate that a VVIP had visited the jail prior to Kunjananthan's death.
"I raised the allegation supported by evidence. I don't expect the LDF government to probe the matter. This is evident in their attempt to file an FIR against me for raising the allegation. I see this as an opportunity to present the evidence I possess. If it doesn't happen, I will pursue legal action independently," Shaji said.
Shaji pointed out that Kunjananthan passed away during his tenure as the MLA representing the constituency where the jail is located. As a result, he maintains that he had access to more details about the incident than anyone else.
The IUML leader also alleged foul play in the death of the accused in several political murders in Kannur.
"It was CPM that implemented the practice of eliminating the accused in murder cases and destroying evidence. Three accused in the Fazal murder case were killed. The main accused in the Shukoor murder case and the wife of another accused committed suicide. The main suspect in the Mansoor murder case committed suicide. A detailed probe is needed to look into the matter," he opined.
