District administrations may announce holidays for schools and colleges in areas affected by heavy rain.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on July 02 (Thursday) afternoon updated its rain forecast for Kerala, issuing orange and yellow alerts for several districts over the next five days.
An orange alert has been issued for Kannur and Kasaragod on July 03 (Friday), with the IMD forecasting very heavy rainfall at isolated places. The department defines very heavy rainfall as 115.6 mm to 204.4 mm of rain within 24 hours. Thunderstorms are also expected.
Yellow alerts for several districts
Alongside the orange alert, the IMD has placed several districts under a yellow alert on different days.
July 02 (Thursday): Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod
July 03 (Friday): Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad
July 04 (Saturday): Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod
July 05 (Sunday): Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod
July 06 (Monday): Ernakulam, Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod
Schools may close in affected areas
The forecast could lead to temporary disruption in some parts of the state.
