In Kerala, over 2.6 crore electors will decide the fate of 883 candidates across 140 constituencies.

Pathanamthitta: Amid ongoing polling in Kerala, the Congress on Thursday raised a complaint alleging irregularities in an electronic voting machine (EVM) at a booth in Pathanamthitta district.
The party claimed that only the photograph of Veena George appeared clearly on the voting machine, while images of other candidates were not visible with the same clarity. The complaint was reported from a booth in Mallappuzhassery.
Congress leaders said the issue was immediately brought to the attention of the district administration, with a formal complaint lodged before District Collector S Prem Krishnan. Responding to the allegation, the collector said the complaint would be examined.
Meanwhile, a separate incident was reported from Kasaragod district, where a controversy erupted after a UDF booth agent was found wearing eyeglasses allegedly fitted with a hidden camera feature at a polling station.
The individual, identified as DM Jamal, was taken into custody after LDF workers objected to the device, raising concerns over a possible violation of polling norms. Jamal, however, maintained that the glasses were his regular pair and that he was unaware of any camera fitted in them.
Election officials and police later intervened and seized the glasses, and further inquiry into the incident is underway.
Meanwhile, voter turnout at 11 am on Thursday in Kerala was at 33.28 per cent, as per the data shared by the Election Commission of India (ECI) for the ongoing 2026 Assembly elections.
In Kerala, over 2.6 crore electors will decide the fate of 883 candidates across 140 constituencies. Of the 2,69,53,644 registered voters across the state, there are 1,38,27,319 women voters, and the number of male voters stands at 1,31,26,048. Officials said that there are 277 third gender voters in the state.
Among the electorate, nearly 4,24,518 voters fall in the 18-19 age group, while 2,04,608 voters are aged 85 years and above. To facilitate safe and secure polling, a total of 30,471 polling stations have been set up.
While the Pinarayi Vijayan-led LDF is looking for a historic third consecutive term, the Congress-led UDF is attempting to come back to power amid anti-incumbency trends in the state.
