Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala government has introduced a new exemption to streamline the process of constructing homes in urban areas. Under the revised rules, houses up to 100 square metres, built on plots of up to 2 cents in city corporation and municipal areas, will now qualify for exemptions.
MB Rajesh, Kerala's Minister for Local Self-Governments and Excise, announced that if the road in front of the property is up to 3 metres wide, the mandatory space to be left between the road and the building will be reduced to 1 metre. This amendment is designed to facilitate home construction for families without other land holdings.
