Thiruvananthapuram: Film organisations are protesting in Thiruvananthapuram against the Censor Board's directive to change the name of the main character and the title of Suresh Gopi's new movie 'Janaki v/s State of Kerala'.

The film workers’ trade union organisation FEFKA, the star organisation AMMA, and the producers' organisation Kerala Film Producers Association are jointly protesting in front of the Regional Censor Board headquarters at the Chitranjali Studio Complex in Thiruvananthapuram.

Film stars, producers, directors and crew members joined the protest. The protesters symbolically threw scissors into the dustbin. FEFKA General Secretary B Unnikrishnan declared that the dustbin is the place where all scissors that do not respect the freedom of the artist will end up. During the protest when B. Unnikrishnan said 'Start, action, no cut', the scissors were thrown into the dustbin.

The protesters also held a march. It had placards that read, "Fight against the Censor Board's denial of justice, protect freedom of expression." The protesters also raised slogans such as, "Whether the savages remember or preserve the freedom of expression, fight to gain rights and protect them."
