Thiruvananthapuram: In a major announcement, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan informed that Kerala Government would soon launch an employment exchange for Non-Resident Keralites.

The announcement came during the inauguration of the Regional Conference of the Loka Kerala Sabha in New York on Saturday. He stated that those who returned to the state and those living abroad can register on the employment exchange portal.

Meanwhile, a portal called 'Pravasi Mithram' has been launched to address the complaints of non-residents regarding the revenue department. The digital data platform created by Norka Roots with the help of the Kerala University of Digital Sciences, Innovation and Technology to gather details of expatriates is in the final phase of its development.

He added that a comprehensive insurance system for expatriates is also in the final stage.

Vijayan also informed that Nodal Officers are appointed to efficiently manage the various recommendations of the Loka Kerala Sabha and Regional Conferences under the supervision of the concerned departments.

In the last seven years, there has been a five-fold increase in the budget allocation for the department managing expatriate affairs. The recruitment division of the Norka Roots has helped many going abroad through legal, transparent and secure channels. The recruitment for the hospitality and tourism sector will start in October 2023, Vijayan said.

He pointed out that the province of Newfoundland and Labrador in Canada has expressed interest in recruiting nurses from the state. He added that the government is looking at the possibilities of facilitating recruitment to Finland in the fields of health, education, hospitality and accounting, in addition to 14 different professions in Japan.
