Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala State Beverages Corporation is launching super premium outlets to sell high-end liquor in four major locations – Thrissur, Kozhikode, Ernakulam, and Kumarakom. These outlets will offer a variety of alcoholic beverages, including Indian-made foreign liquor, foreign-made foreign liquor, beer, and wine.

The Beverages Corporation plans to expand these super premium outlets to more districts in the next phase. Liquor companies will be allowed to showcase their products in these outlets, with a rental fee to be paid for the display space.

Meanwhile, the Kerala Beverages Corporation has been reaching out to property owners across the state who are interested in renting their buildings for liquor outlets. This move aims to cut out middlemen, reducing rent inflation, and keeping information about new outlets confidential until their official opening. All applicant details will be kept private.

Beverages Corporation officials pointed out that rental prices for some properties are often inflated, with some buildings demanding rents up to five times higher than normal. Allegations surfaced that certain officials are benefiting from these inflated rents. To address this, the Corporation decided to roll out an online platform that allows property owners to directly offer their spaces, bypassing intermediaries.
