The Kerala Beverages Corporation is reaching out to property owners in the state who are willing to rent their buildings for liquor outlets. This initiative aims to eliminate rent hikes caused by middlemen and ensure that information about new outlets remains confidential until their opening. All applicant information will remain confidential.

In 2022, the government approved the establishment of 253 additional liquor sales centres, but many of these have not opened due to a lack of available buildings. Out of the approved centres, 78 were closed by the previous UDF government, while 175 were newly sanctioned. Despite repeated efforts to find suitable buildings that comply with excise regulations, including distance requirements, the Corporation has faced challenges.

Beverages Corporation officials have noted that potential rental prices are often inflated, with some buildings costing five times the actual rent. There have been allegations that some officials benefit from these high rents. To address this issue, the Corporation is implementing an online system for property owners to directly offer their buildings.

Property owners interested in renting their buildings can visit the link https://bevco.in/bevspace/ on the Beverages Corporation website to submit their information. Officials from the Beverages Corporation will then reach out directly to discuss potential arrangements.

Currently, the Beverages Corporation operates 278 outlets, some of which also require new buildings to meet demand.
