Thiruvananthapuram: The state government has released the guidelines for the second phase of the Nava Kerala project by including Rebuilt Kerala initiative along with Life Mission, Aardram Mission, Comprehensive Educational Rejuvenation Programme and Haritha Keralam Mission.

Rebuild Kerala Initiative will be treated as a single project along with four existing projects implemented during the first tenure of the Pinarayi Vijayan ministry. This can help the local bodies effectively coordinate the activities of the second phase of the Nava Kerala mission.

However, there will be no change in the existing working pattern pursued in the first phase. Although it is a single project that comes under the local bodies through the coordination of various departments, the concerned departments and agencies will continue to play a significant role in its execution.

While the priority in the first phase was to provide basic facilities for the protection of public education, the second phase will prioritize academic excellence. There will be changes in other missions as well. Additionally, topics such as roads, houses and environmental protection will also come under the purview of the Rebuild Kerala initiative.

There will be an approach that evaluates the development achievements so far, overcomes limitations and ensures public participation. Further, schemes of Central and state governments will be brought under one scheme for its better implementation.

There will be a system to evaluate the progress made in the scheme. The Chief Minister will review the monthly progress evaluation document. A system will be implemented to let people know of the progress made in houses constructed under the Life project.
