In a letter dated July 21, 2025, the Council sought permission for the delegation to engage in discussions in Yemen. However, the Ministry of external affairs clarified that the negotiations are restricted to the family of the deceased and Nimisha Priya’s family or their authorized representatives. The Ministry also highlighted several factors for denying the travel request.
The Indian Embassy in Yemen has been relocated to Riyadh due to the unstable security situation in the country. Additionally, India lacks diplomatic relations with the current administration in Sana'a, and recent regional developments have further heightened safety concerns. "The security situation in Sana'a is tenuous and in recent months, regional developments have made it challenging. " the Ministry stated, underscoring that the safety of Indian nationals remains a top priority.
The Ministry reiterated its commitment to making all possible efforts in Nimisha Priya’s case but concluded that permitting the delegation’s travel to Sana'a was not feasible under the current circumstances.
