Thiruvananthapuram: The Hema committee tasked with addressing harassment in the Malayalam film industry has taken extraordinary measures to safeguard the privacy of their report. Committee members revealed that they had personally typed the report to ensure that sensitive information remains confidential.

Despite their efforts to find a reliable stenographer, the search proved unsuccessful. Following this, committee members learned typing to compile the report.

The process of gathering evidence posed challenges for the committee. Although they advertised for individuals willing to provide evidence, no responses were received. Efforts to contact industry figures directly by phone also yielded no results, leading the committee to issue notices.

Justice Hema, who has actively participated in collecting information, has ensured the presence of committee members during witness statements. There are days when sittings are held from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

The report, which the state government released on Monday, says that in many cases, women have to give sexual favours in order to get opportunities in the industry.

The report that studied the issues faced by women in the Malayalam film Industry has revealed inside details about the industry. The committee comprised chairperson Justice Hema (Former High Court Judge) , T Sharada (cine artist), and KB Valsala Kumari (former bureaucrat).

The government has published the report after redacting 63 pages from the original 295-page report.
