Pathanapuram: A turning point has emerged in the controversy surrounding Kerala minister K B Ganesh Kumar after his wife Bindu Menon said he has apologised following the recent dispute.

Bindu Menon said Ganesh Kumar contacted her on Tuesday morning and expressed regret over the situation. She added that the issue is a family matter that should be resolved through discussions and clarified that she has no intention of personally harming Ganesh Kumar.

The minister’s apology came amid mounting speculation about possible political consequences. Reports earlier suggested that developments surrounding the controversy could push matters towards Ganesh Kumar’s resignation, with discussions expected during a cabinet meeting scheduled for the day.

Bindu Menon had earlier levelled serious allegations against the minister, claiming she witnessed a disturbing incident and had visual evidence of it. She alleged that members of the minister’s personal staff assaulted her and attempted to seize her mobile phone to prevent the incident from becoming public.

She further claimed that the minister’s driver, Santhan and a staff member named Pradeep stopped her on the minister’s instructions after she took photographs of what she had witnessed. According to her statement, she feared for her safety following the incident.

Bindu Menon also said she contacted the police helpline 112 seeking assistance, but alleged that by the time she returned after packing her belongings, those involved had already left the premises. She claimed that even taxi drivers were hesitant to approach the minister’s residence and that she eventually reached her home in Palakkad at around 2 am.

Explaining why she initially remained silent, Bindu Menon said she refrained from speaking publicly for two days because Ganesh Kumar is a minister. However, she decided to respond after learning that she had been described as “crazy”.

Bindu Menon said she had reached out to several individuals, including Veena Vijayan, seeking support. However, she had previously clarified that she was not interested in pursuing legal action in the matter.
