Thiruvananthapuram: Despite the Muslim League's rejection of the invitation to participate in the UCC seminar in Kozhikode, the CPM has affirmed its commitment to cooperate with the League on the issue. The state secretariat of the CPM assessed that the initiative would yield political benefits.

The invitation extended to the League by the CPM helped to foster trust among the Muslim population that the attempt was to create a non-political platform for protest. The UDF, especially the Congress, found itself in crisis with the invitation. Congress could not assume leadership of the protest, CPM concluded.

Following the seminar in Kozhikode, it has been decided to organise similar protests and campaign programmes in all districts. CPM will continue to invite the League. CPM anticipates that repeated refusals by the League will create a crisis for them. However, the meeting did not decide whether the CPM should participate if invited to UDF events.
