Thiruvananthapuram: The Congress high command has devised a solution to address the ongoing internal strife within the state party by forming a 'high-level committee'. This committee aims to establish unity and resolve disputes within the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC).
The committee will include prominent leaders such as KPCC President K. Sudhakaran, Opposition Leader VD Satheesan, UDF Convenor MM Hassan, senior leader Ramesh Chennithala, AICC General Secretary KC Venugopal, and General Secretary in-charge of Kerala Deepa Das Munshi. There are also plans to include former KPCC Presidents VM Sudheeran, Mullappally Ramachandran, and K Muraleedharan.
The committee's primary responsibility will be to discuss the party's daily affairs, address disputes, and work towards a common stance moving forward. With representation from all leadership levels, it is hoped that the committee will help resolve confrontations and differences within the party.
Change in the KPCC President
Meanwhile, the ongoing dispute over a potential change in the KPCC President continues, with K Sudhakaran expressing strong opposition to the idea. He had previously indicated that he would step down if requested by the high command but has now backed away from that stance. Efforts are being made to persuade him to accept a different position, such as becoming a special invitee to the working committee.
In response to the leadership change discussions, Opposition Leader VD Satheesan clarified that no one has formally asked for a change in the KPCC President, emphasising that the decision on this matter should be made by the high command. Satheesan reassured reporters in Kochi that there was no dispute within the Congress and that the party would move forward with unity.
