Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) has stepped in to rein in growing internal discord within the party, issuing a strong directive to spokespersons and leaders against expressing personal opinions that contradict the party's official position.

In a circular, the KPCC said spokespersons airing personal views or internal disputes through the media and social media were damaging the party's unity, discipline and public image. The leadership observed that such public disagreements undermine the party's credibility and create confusion among the public.

The party has directed that only its officially approved decisions and positions should be communicated through the media and other public platforms. Any personal differences of opinion or organisational grievances, it said, must be raised only through the party's internal forums and resolved within the organisational framework.

The circular also instructs party members to refrain from making statements, participating in public discussions or posting on social media in a manner that tarnishes the image of the party or its leadership.

The KPCC further reminded spokespersons that interactions with the media must reflect the party's discipline, unity and collective responsibility. The directive states that maintaining organisational cohesion is essential and warns against publicly airing internal differences.

The circular was issued by KPCC General Secretary and Chairperson of the Media Department, Deepthi Mary Varghese.

The directive comes amid recent controversy within the Congress over the appointment of a former Students Federation of India (SFI) leader as a government pleader, a move that triggered public disagreements and criticism from several party leaders.
