The Kerala High Court has said that Kerala businessman Boby Chemmanur can be granted bail in the sexual harassment case filed by Malayalam actor Honey Rose. The court will release the order by 3:30 pm today. Following this, Boby will be free to leave.
Boby’s bail plea was considered by a bench led by Justice PV Kunhikrishnan. The government opposed his plea, arguing that Boby Chemmanur had continuously insulted the actress and made obscene remarks and that denying him bail would send a strong societal message. However, the court noted that society had already received this message when the accused was initially remanded. Senior advocate B Raman Pillai represented Boby in court.

The court reviewed details including a footage presented by the prosecution. After viewing it, the court asked why Boby was behaving in such a manner. The defense, however, argued that the actress had no issue at the time. The court, however, stated that the actress may not have responded during the event out of respect.
Though a bail plea was previously filed in the High Court, it had been postponed, and the case was set for consideration on Tuesday. Boby Chemmanur, who had been remanded in the case, is currently held at Kakkanad Jail. With the bail granted, Boby is expected to be released from jail today itself.
Boby's arrest
Boby was detained by a special police team from Ernakulam Central Police on Thursday morning at his estate in Wayanad. He was transported to Kochi, where he was formally arrested at 7:15 pm following interrogation. The police confirmed that Chemmanur's phone had been seized for examination. Despite requesting to travel in his own vehicle, Boby was transported to Kochi in a police jeep. Upon entering the police station, Boby denied any wrongdoing, claiming his comments had been misinterpreted.
Last Tuesday, Honey Rose stated she had spoken with the Chief Minister, who assured her that action would be taken. "I am living in a state with a government and police that provide me protection, and I am certain that I am in a country where I can feel secure. It is this certainty that has prompted me to fight back," she said.
