Kozhikode: Refusing to tone down his attack against the Chief Minister, PV Anvar has strongly criticised CM Pinarayi Vijayan for his statement regarding the seizure of gold and hawala money in Malappuram district, made in an interview with an English daily. While speaking at Muthalakkulam ground in Kozhikode on Monday during an explanation meeting organised by the action committee in connection with  the disappearance of businessman Mami from Kozhikode, Anvar said that the CM tries to portray a certain community in society as culprits.

“Why doesn’t the CM share this fact with the media in Kerala? He knows that the media would ask questions about it,” Anvar said. “The CM claims that Malappuram district is under the control of the biggest criminal gang in the state. Why doesn’t he communicate this to the newspapers in Kerala? There would be questions,” he added.

“The smugglers who land at Karipur airport on their way to Tamil Nadu and Karnataka are being caught in Malappuram district. The passport of the person apprehended should be checked to confirm his identity and determine from which district he hails. Then, the CM should reveal the district from which the person comes. Instead, he blames a particular community and district. This is very dangerous. This is what is being challenged,” Anvar stated.

“The CM sits tight, hugging a criminal. If he thinks he can frighten me with his statements, he is mistaken, as I have a father,” Anvar asserted.

In his interview with the English daily, the CM said that the allegations of an RSS connection against him are being raised because of the inconvenience caused to some people through the police investigation into the smuggling of hawala money and gold through Karipur airport over the last five years. He also stated that the police had seized crores of gold and hawala money in Malappuram district during this period.
