Kollam: The absence of Kollam MLA and film star M Mukesh during the ongoing CPM state conference in Kollam has drawn significant attention and is being widely discussed in the media. As the local MLA, Mukesh should have been at the forefront of organising the conference. However, it is reported that he is currently outside the district for a film shoot, despite the state conference.
His absence is being interpreted as a sign of growing differences between the MLA and the party. The state conference is being held in Kollam after 30 years, and is taking place in the MLA’s constituency. Apart from sharing a video related to a campaign event, the MLA has not posted anything on social media related to the state conference.
It is rumoured that the MLA is under an unofficial ban from party forums following a sexual harassment case. The situation became more intense after a charge sheet was filed in the case. During party leadership meetings, senior female leaders raised concerns, and there was criticism of the MLA even at the district conference.
