
Kollam: The newly appointed CPM state secretariat has a noteable representation from Kannur, with five members in the 17-member body. Among them are Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, state secretary MV Govindan, central committee members EP Jayarajan and KK Shailaja, and Kannur district secretary MV Jayarajan.
Three new members—MV Jayarajan, Ernakulam district secretary CN Mohanan and central committee member KK Shailaja—have joined the secretariat, replacing former members Anavoor Nagappan, AK Balan, and PK Sreemathi.
With MV Jayarajan and CN Mohanan elevated to the state secretariat, new district secretaries will be appointed for Kannur and Ernakulam. Meanwhile, Kottayam’s district secretary position remains vacant following the demise of AV Russel.
Representation from other districts
From Kozhikode, Minister Mohammed Riyas, LDF convenor TP Ramakrishnan, and Deshabhimani editor Puthalath Dineshan have been included. Kollam is represented by Minister KN Balagopal, while Thomas Isaac represents Pathanamthitta, Saji Cherian Alappuzha, and Minister VN Vasavan Kottayam. Idukki is represented by KK Jayachandran, and Ernakulam by Minister P Rajeev and CN Mohanan. PK Biju has been included from Palakkad.
Notable exclusions
Thiruvananthapuram has no representation in the secretariat following the exclusion of senior leader Anavoor Nagappan. Leaders from Thrissur, Wayanad, and Kasaragod have also not found a place in the new leadership body.
