Kollam: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Sunday asserted that the policy framework presented in the state conference  will be implemented while remaining within the CPM's ideological stance. He was responding to discussions surrounding the 'New Pathways for Nava Keralam' document presented at the CPM state conference.

His remarks were in response to criticism highlighting concerns over the pro-private sector approach and the introduction of cess and fees. The Chief Minister clarified that public supports development and assured that the government would move forward by taking people into confidence, without adopting any anti-people stance in resource mobilisation.

"The proposal for cess and fees is merely a potential resource mobilisation measure and is not intended for immediate implementation. The government will proceed only after ensuring public confidence and acceptance," he said.

During discussions on the policy document, some delegates had raised concerns, particularly regarding the imposition of fees on currently free services and the introduction of cess. They also cautioned that any deviation from the party's traditional stance, including the potential privatisation of public sector enterprises, could be exploited by political opponents.
