
Pinarayi, Kannur: A 67-year-old man from Kannur, who was declared dead earlier on Monday, was found to be alive while his body was being carried to the morgue.
The man, identified as Velluvakkandi Pavithran from Pachapoika in Kannur, had been admitted to a private hospital in Mangaluru earlier on Monday due to paralysis and respiratory issues.

Pavithran’s condition worsened while he was being treated with a ventilator. By the evening, the hospital authorities informed his relatives that they would be withdrawing life support as his health had not improved. After confirming his death, his relatives were notified, and arrangements were made for his body to be transported back home.

Around 6:30 pm on Monday, Pavithran’s body was being brought home in an ambulance from Mangaluru. Since it was late in the evening, the family decided to take the body to the AKG Hospital morgue in Kannur. At about 11:30 pm, when the ambulance carrying the body reached the hospital, an attendant, Jayan, and a relative, C Arjunan, noticed Pavithran's hand move. Quickly reacting, the medical team was called, and after examination, they confirmed that Pavithran was alive. He was immediately transferred to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for further treatment. The doctors are monitoring him closely.
Meanwhile, news of Pavithran’s death had already spread, with some media outlets publishing details about his death and planned cremation.
