A sharp winter chill continues to dominate large parts of India on Friday, January 9, with north India locked in cold wave and dense fog conditions, while southern and coastal regions brace for clouds, haze and spells of rain. From the biting cold in Delhi and Kashmir to mist in Bengaluru and thunderstorms in Chennai, today’s weather presents a stark regional contrast.

Delhi weather today: Cold, foggy and below normal

Cold conditions have tightened their grip across Delhi-NCR as winter nears its peak. The combined effect of an active western disturbance, weak sunshine and stagnant winds has pushed temperatures below normal.

Fog alert: Moderate to dense fog likely in all districts, with visibility dropping below 200 metres in some areas

Impact: Morning fog may disrupt road and air traffic
