A yellow alert is in place in Pathanamthitta, Idukki and Palakkad on Monday (September 14).
On Tuesday (September 15), the alert will apply to Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad.
On Wednesday (September 16), Idukki, Kozhikode, Wayanad and Kannur will be under a yellow alert.
The IMD considers rainfall of 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm in 24 hours as heavy rain.
Will schools and colleges have a holiday?
The rain forecast has raised the possibility of holidays for schools and colleges in districts that receive heavy rainfall.
However, a yellow alert does not automatically mean a holiday. The decision to suspend classes on Monday (September 14) or on the following days will be taken by the respective district collectors or other competent authorities after assessing local weather conditions.
Students and parents should rely only on official announcements from district administrations and educational institutions for information about holidays or changes to class schedules.
