An FIR has been registered in Udaipur against filmmaker Vikram Bhatt and seven others following allegations that they duped IVF specialist Dr Ajay Murdia of approximately ₹30 crore under the pretext of producing multiple film projects.
The case has been filed at Bhupalpura police station based on Dr Murdia’s claim that the group persuaded him to invest in four films and documentaries, including a biographical project centred on his late wife Indira.

According to the complaint, Bhatt and his associates allegedly assured Dr Murdia that the films would deliver significant commercial returns, with projected earnings of up to ₹200 crore. The FIR lists eight accused, including Vikram Bhatt, his wife Shwetambari Bhatt, his daughter Krishna Bhatt, and associates Dinesh Kataria and Mehboob Ansari. Dr Murdia alleged that after contracts were finalised and funds were transferred in instalments, key projects were either abandoned or completed without providing the promised acknowledgement or credit.
The complaint also states that once the funds were transferred, communication from the production team became irregular, and eventually stopped. Police officials said the preliminary investigation indicates that the production house did not execute the agreed-upon projects as specified in the contracts. Two out of the four films were completed, but according to police, they were not attributed to the complainant as per the agreement. The remaining major project, including the high-budget biopic, was allegedly not initiated.
Udaipur Superintendent of Police Yogesh Goyal confirmed the registration of the case and said that investigators are examining bank statements, communications, and agreements related to the financial transactions. Notices are expected to be issued to all those named in the complaint.
In his response, Vikram Bhatt denied the allegations and said that he had not received any official notice from the Rajasthan Police. He claimed that he has documentation and emails proving that payments to the film crew were stopped from the complainant’s side, which he said halted the production work. Bhatt also stated that the proposed IPO process of Dr Murdia’s organisation affected project progress. He maintained that he had previously collaborated with the complainant on a biopic about Indira IVF and said he would cooperate fully with the ongoing inquiry.
