Mumbai: Bengaluru-based regional airline Star Air has announced that it will begin flight operations from the Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) starting December 25, 2025. With this move, Star Air becomes the first regional airline to launch services from the new airport.

The airline will introduce new routes connecting Navi Mumbai with Ahmedabad, Goa (Mopa), Bengaluru and Nanded. The planned services include direct flights between Navi Mumbai and Ahmedabad, as well as connections to Nanded via Ahmedabad, Goa (Mopa), and Bengaluru via Goa (Mopa).

Star Air will operate these routes using Embraer 175 aircraft, which are well suited for regional and short-haul operations.

Speaking about the launch, Star Air Chief Executive Officer Capt. Simran Singh Tiwana said the airline is proud to be the only regional carrier starting operations from NMIA. He said the move reflects Star Air’s focus on connecting smaller cities and providing time-saving travel options for passengers.

“These new routes will offer travellers from Navi Mumbai and the wider Mumbai Metropolitan Region easier access to key regional cities. At the same time, they will help boost trade, tourism and investment across the regions we serve,” Tiwana said.

The airline currently operates a fleet of 12 aircraft, comprising eight Embraer E175 jets and four Embraer E145s. It plans to expand its fleet to 25 aircraft over the next three years as part of its growth strategy.

Earlier, major carriers such as Air India Group, IndiGo and Akasa Air had also announced plans to operate from the Navi Mumbai International Airport.
