Mallika Sukumaran criticises AMMA over the timing of an event held for IFFK delegates, questioning whether the organisation values a colleague’s tears following the survivor’s public statement.

Mallika Sukumaran has strongly criticised the actors’ organisation AMMA in connection with the actress assault case. She expressed anger over a party organised by AMMA for IFFK delegates a day after the survivor publicly shared the difficulties she had personally faced in relation to the case.
In a Facebook post, Mallika questioned whether the organisation valued the tears of a fellow colleague at all. She had raised similar concerns while speaking to the media the previous day.
Mallika Sukumaran’s Facebook post:
“It is true that the justice system and society called her a survivor. She literally survived by living for eight years, consoling her widowed mother. Yesterday, for the first time, she said, ‘I am the survivor’, and openly shared her mental anguish in her own name.
What did the organisation—led by women who proudly proclaim that they stand united for colleagues—actually show? Do they not value the tears of a co-worker?
They say AMMA’s history had to be rewritten by hosting a party for film festival delegates. Is this the organisation’s idea of charity? Reports say the Minister’s approval was obtained and even the budget was sanctioned. Whatever they wanted, so be it. But should it really have been done today?
At least the brothers in AMMA could have restrained the women in charge. Those who speak up were sidelined; now, at the very least, ensure that the remaining value is not lost…
I say it again, ‘Women can be the reason for rise, and women can also be the cause of fall’.
