Gautami Tadimalla says VK Sasikala’s new political move could impact the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.

Chennai: All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) Deputy Secretary for Propaganda, Gautami Tadimalla, warned that expelled AIADMK leader VK Sasikala’s recent move to launch a political party could carry political implications ahead of the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.
“This decision might have an implication on the upcoming election. But it will depend entirely on what steps she takes, what her stand is, and how she moves forward... In this upcoming election, the AIADMK-led NDA coalition will have a resounding victory...,” Tadimalla said on Tuesday.
Earlier in the day, Sasikala unveiled her new party flag, declaring that she would follow the political path inspired by C N Annadurai, M G Ramachandran, and J Jayalalithaa.
“I have 39 years of political experience. I waited nine years until this moment. This moment belongs to us. From the branch-level cadres to all my party members living across Tamil Nadu, everyone has the right to this flag. That is why we will continue on the path shown by Anna, MGR, and Jayalalithaa. This flag will be one that gives courage to the poor and the downtrodden,” Sasikala said.

The new party flag, replacing the AIADMK flag on her vehicle, features black, white, and red colours, with images of Anna, MGR, and Jayalalithaa, introduced by one of Jayalalithaa’s close aides.
“For now, I am only introducing the party flag. I have not yet announced the party's name. I will announce it soon. There will be no change in this decision,” she added.
Sasikala’s announcement comes as the 234-member Tamil Nadu Assembly is set to go to the polls in the first half of 2026. The move is widely seen as a strategic attempt to reclaim influence in the Dravidian political landscape.
The upcoming assembly elections are expected to be a contest between the incumbent MK Stalin-led alliance, promoting the ‘Dravidian Model 2.0’, and the BJP-AIADMK coalition. Political analysts suggest Sasikala’s entry could introduce new dynamics into Tamil Nadu’s electoral politics.
